Eight Solo dancers danced to Dick Mackey at Medina Squares on 4/4/2014 and since they did not have our banner (my mistake) we had a successful Banner Raid. The dancers from Solo’s that raided were Sherrie, Beverly, Jeff, Bert, Don, Shelby, Barb and me. At one time there were 5 squares up and dancing and a couple of Medina students trying their hand at a dance

Student Dance 3/28
We danced 4 squares at our 3/28 student level dance and had 5 students in attendance.

Gene Hammond introduce the angels and students to some new challenges and Frankie taught and lead some line dances between tips. Circulators were there for a banner retrieval and graciously provided a free pass to their hotdog dance which was won by Solo’s student Denise.

Successful Banner retrieval on 03/07 at Medina
Thanks to Denise, Tom, Susan, Fran, Don, Carolyn, Gary and Beth we had a successful banner retrieval from Media Squares who has had our banner since 9/1/2013. The only other banners that we have out are at Brecksville and Hubs.
Small attendance at our Valentines dance
I guess that there were a lot of celebration of valentines day on Friday 2/14 as we had only 2 squares dancing to Gene Hammond. Many thanks to the Brecksville club as they supplied a little more then 1 square in their banner raid. We all had a good night with Gene challenging us with some calls and formations that required us to think and not dance on auto-pilot. Frankie also gave our dancers who wanted to line dance some exercise. Carolyn supplied a beautiful valentine cake for our cakewalk.
The Mark Moorehead Memorial student dance was a success on 1/24
We had up to 8 squares dancing to caller Tom Strickland at our Mark Moorehead Memorial dance and in those 8 square were 8 students. The night was blustery out side but Tom Strickland warmed us up with his dance calls and every one that I talked to had a fun time. I have uploaded the pictures that I took at the dance to our Mark Moorehead album at
The link should take you to the first picture of this years dance.

Successful banner raid at Circulators
With January 18th being Tom Strickland’s birthday the solo’s surprised him by showing up at Circulators for his dance and consequently had a successful banner raid. Thanks to Gary, Carolyn, Susan, Spanky, Betty, Marilyn, Norm, Sherrie, Beverly, Caroline, Frank, Barb and Bob for making it to Circulators. Susan and Marilyn provided birthday cakes for Tom Strickland. A correction! Susan informed me that she did not provide a lemon cake for Tom but it was Caroline that provided the cake.
Successful banner retrivial at Brecksville —- Updated
On 1/17 we successfully retrieved our banner from Brecksville with 11 Solo’s attending the dance called by Mike Sumpter. Thanks to Bob, Barb, Terry, Bill, Susan, Spanky, Frank, Lenny, Carolyn, Gary, Ron and Jan. I hope that I did not miss anyone but if I did please except my apologies and my thank you for being there. I think that there was 6 squares up and dancing with 2 squares during the hot hash. I updated the name list with Gary’s name thanks to Barb’s memory.
The first dance of 2014 has come and is gone.
John Ramsey called our first Plus level dance of 2014 on 1/10 and we danced 5 squares at times. Broken Wheel came with enough to raid our banner which was great to have them with us as usual. Caroline won the cake walk prize which was brought by Carolyn

Our theme of the evening was PJs and Pies so several of our members and guests showed up in their jammies which you can see below in the picture that was taken at the dance.

The free dance pass given to a member that had donated refreshments for the snack table went to Lori and then Lori drew my wife’s ticket for the 50/50 drawing.

On 11/23 we danced to Gene Hammond with as many as 5 squares. Gene had us do some unique formations like the one with 4 squares in one formation. Betty Clay won the free dance pass and Jan Waryk won the pie provide by Lenny Smith for the cake walk. A Brecksville dancer took home the 50-50.
